What
is a True Wide Dynamic Camera?

Jay Ruoo
Technical Director. One
of the most fundamental "law" of photography is that you never take a picture
with bright light source, such as the sun in the background. Most of us know what
happens when we do this: A black shadowy silhouette in front of a bright light,
unable to distinguish any physical features. Same has been true in CCTV surveillance
photography. Recently however a breakthrough in optical engineering called the
Wide Dynamic Technology enables a camera to take picture for what used to be off
limits for surveillance photography.
Here
is how Wide Dynamic Works.
Essentially,
a Wide Dynamic Camera is simultaneously taking pictures of two polar opposite
environments and "combining" it with a specialized chipset---kind of like taking
two separate cameras to photograph a environment separately then combining it
in a image editing software in a computer. First is the CCD: Our true Wide Dynamic
cameras are equipped with top of the line 1/3" Interline Double Speed SONY CCD.
The Interline Double Speed SONY CCD is quite different from conventional SONY
CCD's in that it is able to read both bright and dark areas separately. Once the
two differeing environments are read by the CCD, this information is then transferred
to the CX3151 Wide Dynamic Chipset where the 2 different images are combined in
to a single scene. As an added value, our Wide Dynamic cameras can be enabled
with Mechanism driven, True Day & Night feature.

Speed SONY CCD AM80H-WD
Series cameras are equipped with 1/3" Interline Sony Double Speed CCD that
are highly sensitive. Since the Interline Sony Double Speed CCD reads both bright
areas and dark areas at once separately, it's called double speed. Only high resolution
is available at this moment. |

Wide Dynamic Range Chipset-
CXD3151 After
the Interline Sony Double CCD reads 2 different areas, bright and dark, our CXD3151
Wide Dynamic Processor "combines" the 2 different images in to 1 scene.
Even though there is very bright light or even a imposing spotlight on objects,
the picture image is always sharp without any blooming or smears as if you are
watching this through your eyes. It is never disturbed from strong backlight and
highlight. |

Mechanism Driven True
Day Night Function - Optional AM80H-WD-TDN
Models include a Mechanism Driven True Day Night Function that are optionally
available. Since heat is always the damaging factor in most True Day & Night
mechanisms, one of the distinguishing feature of our TDN mechanism is it can endure
high temperature of up to 200¡É by using thermal resistent LCP material. |

Ambush's foremost priority is to satisfy our customer's demands as well as to
improve from many weaknesses of current technologies. Many customers are exploring
to improve their security solutions as well as to keep up with current technologies.
With AM80H-WD-TDN, Ambush introduces a newly found technology titled Wide Dynamic.
For most color cameras, even with the latest technology, it is impractical to
use the camera while receiving strong light from the background. However, Ambush
has finally solve this problem by combining two different types of technologies
in 1; DOUBLE SPEED SONY CCD and WIDE DYNAMIC CHIP (CX3151). The Double Speed SONY
CCD uses different type of mechanism from the regular type CCDs. The Double Speed
Sony CCD can read both bright and dark areas individually, while regular CCDs
could only detect one or the other. Afterwards WIDE DYNAMIC CHIP (CX3151) combines
2 different images in 1 scene. Furthermore, True Day Night Function enables the
camera to perform in a real 24 hour monitoring with clear images for both day
time and night time usage. Ambush is very proud to introduce the newly upgraded
AM80H-WD-TDN, the best True Day and Night camera available today.
